Archie's photographs

Some Memories of LA

Our arrival in LA was delayed for 3 hours because of a freak thunderstorm in Dallas where we waited for our connecting flight for LA.  I did not have Archie's phone number at that time. I tried  using a PC for rent at the airport, but all it did was swallow my money then left me with a blank screen. So many ways to scam passengers in a big airport like Dallas..

When we arrived in LA ( around midnight instead of 9:00 pm ) we found Archie and Benilda, weary but still smiling. They said they slept in their car ( the Hummer with an ASINGAN license plate ) . Could not thank them enough for their patience in waiting...

Archie and Benilda found us at the baggage carousel in the Arrivals of LAX

After finding the last piece of our baggage, we finally drove out of LAX, and after a half an hour drive we found ourselves in Echo park. Archie's house is perched on a hill.  One of the artworks I saw upon entering his house is a collage of wings from a moth called MARIPOSA. It glows in the dark, casting an eeire blue light...

The Mariposa collage

They also have a collection of fine antiques, tables, furnitures, etc. One of the pieces is a clock which serves as a wine storage and also as a small closet which could hide knick knacks..Archie said there are many stores in LA dealing with antiques

The time piece which tells the time and also would serve you a drink ( if you wish )

The next morning, I went up with Archie to the top part of his house. He is quite a handy man himself, skilfull with carpentry and he did most of the renovation and finishing of his house.

Archie going up the topmost deck of his 2 door building. Up here, we saw some excellent views of downtown LA..The famous Hollywood sign could be seen here on a clear day. The Universal Studios is less than half an hour drive away....
