a week end in Gatineu, Quebec

a week end with kids, dogs and Mother Nature -part 1

Last week end,  just 2 days after we arrived from California, we had another 6 hour drive to  Gatineu, Quebec to enjoy a week end with  my daughter Bernadette Costes Somerville and her family.  She is married to Simon Somerville.

We rode with old friends Rick and Louena Untinen, the parents of Caitlin and Patricia Untinen who sing with the St. John the Evangelist children's choir. Michelle my other daughter followed later in the day with her husband Jonathan Forbes and their two daughters Mia and Emma.

So all in all there were 6 kids: Chloe and Dillon Somerville, Mia Gonzales and Emma Forbes; Caitlin and Patricia Untinen.

The cottage do not have  a TV or PC : otherwise the kids will be just sitting in front of the boob tubes watching silly cartoons..or playing video games..So the kids  and adults alike  swim, go kayaking, go rock climbing, jump in the trampoline, sketch the views, go boating, cook bar b que and Filipino foods...Yep, there are 4 dogs at one time, and watching them is better than watching TV! They are comedians!

And with the kids, there never is one dull moment..

This is the Untinen family pet, Onyx, a  Labrador a very frisky dog..

Meet Nibbler who belongs to the Somerville family. I called him to sit on the couch beside me, but he jumped into my lap instead. And his bottom was very wet. When he jumped off, I went to change my shirt because it started to smell like a dog's butt...

The quiet, amiable Boppy who belongs to the  Forbes family.  Boppy, a PEKINGESE,  is short for Brampton. He looks and walks like the Lady in DISNEY'S LADY AND THE TRAMP...

Nibbler meets Boppy..He likes  him. Both, by the way are fixed..NOOOO, they are not from Brokeback Mountain...

Onyx likes Nibbler. Nibbler hates him because  Onyx always hump him.

Nothing like a good scratch on the face..the paws that refreshes

Then Caitlin was holding up a frog. I suggested to her to give it a kiss: it might be a Prince...

This is a real life "Prince". At his young age, he already can swim a good part of the lake, he learned how to play chess in school. He is Dillon Somerville, Simon and Berna's first born. Looking at his book is his sister Chloe..

Chloe looking prim and proper, on the steps of the trampoline...

Emma,  jumping like crazy on the trampoline..

The latest addition to the Somerville clan: Troy Somerville. He has a good seat on Grandma Helen's lap.---#

Mr. Vic, maybe Nibbler didn't understand the language you used that was why he sat on your lap with wet bottoms. I sure like to try "juggling" "kids, dogs & Mother nature" someday to find out if I rate as good as you. Enjoy your bonding vacation with the family. I'll be reading the book you sent on July 26th when I arrive Windsor where you mailed it.

Since both of us are already retired seniors, then we have all the time ( and skills ) to do a bit of juggling act..Dogs are  just like people..Nibbler has that crumpled face which only his Mom can love..His  tongue is always stuck out too, don't know why..Maybe he prefers human lap rather than the couch. I think his mistress always let him sit on her lap. And he can not tell the difference between a female lap and a male lap.

Good doggie!
